Kenneth Epting is a native of Chicago, Illinois, residing in Houston for the past twenty-six years. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Purdue University, and his Masters in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. He is also a certified secondary mathematics teacher and counselor. Kenneth is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. An acclaimed dancer and choreographer, Kenneth started his dance training in Chicago, Illinois with noted dance schools such as Joseph Holmes Dance Theatre, Joel Hall Dance Center, and Lou Conte School of Dance. He also received additional training at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and Martha Graham School. In the summer of 2014 Kenneth received his Week 1 Horton Pedagogy Certificate. Kenneth was the 1984 Chicago NAACP ACT-SO Gold Medalist in Dance, and was honored as a 2008 Houston NAACP ACT-SO Alumni Honoree for Arts and Humanities. In addition to his participation in ACT-SO, Kenneth has served as a local and national judge in the areas of dance and mathematics. Mr. Epting has received high acclaim for many of his choreographic works in Chicago and Houston. Since his arrival in Houston, Kenneth has choreographed for a variety of dance companies, performing organizations, and a host of other local high school dance and drill teams. Kenneth served as Artistic Director for the Classic Dance Ensemble at Prairie View A&M University from 1990 – 2000. Kenneth works as the Purchasing and Technology Manager for the Houston Academy of Dance and West University Dance Centre. Kenneth is the owner and founder of Kenneth Epting Educational Consultants. Currently, as the founder and Artistic Director of Exclamation Dance Company, Kenneth continues with his lifelong mission to educate, excite, and entertain audiences across the world using powerful statements made in modern jazz, and contemporary dance. He dedicates his love and gift of dance to his mother, the late Beatrice Epting.
